So the bubble has burst and I'm back in Singapore, where there is laundry to be done, photos to sort out, emails to reply and a corporate life to return to. Not to mention a travel anecdote to be put on blog.
It's been a pretty eventful 5 days 4 nights. We dutifully hit all the tourist stops, ate what we were supposed to eat, karaoke-d at a Partyworld so posh it puts KBox to shame, watched 超级星光大道 (okay on the hotel TV I mean), survived the arduous journey to Jiufen, rushed back to Ximending in time for Show Luo's autograph session, had a chance encounter with ALin, and went on grabbing spree for nice apparels and local produce. It's all well and good, except very tiring - we had practically no rest from the moment we were done with the morning ablutions till we hit the sack at night. In retrospect, I wish I had spent more time at the feel-good places, immersed myself more deeply in the speak-nice-mandarin environment and generally enjoyed being there, instead of being constantly wearied by the jam-packed itinerary as a typical Singaporean tourist would. So yes, the food is nice and the shopping excellent, but those are not exactly the things I love the city for.
This won't be my last trip to Taipei. I still like the place very much, and I still want to go for the new year countdown someday, be able to layer myself with winterish clothes and walk freely on the streets without being hindered by the sweltering heat. With that, I wasn't feeling too sad when I left, because I will be back and it won't be too long.
This shall suffice for an update while I continue to sort out my photos and await the others. So, later now.
