Last week when half of the population was at Suntec City scrambling for cheap IT gadgets, I was debating with my parents whether I should buy a laptop for University. To me, a laptop is just optional - I will neither be going overseas nor staying in the hostel and I am definitely not lugging a 3kg load to school everyday. Besides, we don’t need 3 computers in a household of 4! They, on the other hand, are of the opinion that every undergraduate has to have one and if I don’t, my life will plunge into misery and university education as we know it will come to a naught. In the end, I couldn’t decide and just procrastinated and before I knew it, the PC Show was over. So the topic of laptop ownership rested and I thought I would continue procrastinating till school starts until I learnt about this...

Ok I know I am coming late (very late, perhaps) to the party on this but Microsoft's latest Windows Vista is so pretty! All those side-screen gadgets, the obscenely sexy Flip 3D function and all that... who would have thought it possible for Windows to rival Macintosh in terms of looks? Now all you need is a lovely laptop to put those Mac Books to shame. Why bother to learn and get used to the Mac interface when you can stick to Windows without compromising on the aesthetics?
Unfortunately, such gorgeous OS is a horrible sucker for system memory which my desktop PC can ill-afford. So yes, I’m swayed, the irrational side of me has taken over and I am going for a laptop. Now you realise how shallow I am.
