After exhibiting weeks of cranky behavior, my computer monitor finally died on me yesterday afternoon while I was typing a blog entry ranting about how overrated MAF is. At that moment, I felt lost because that entry would not see the light. After a while, I felt even more lost realising that my Monday stay-home night would be void of all forms of computer-related activities. At last, I was enlightened and decided it was good opportunity for an aberration in my daily routine.

Thusly inspired, I went for my long overdue run in the evening. The PSI was thankfully cooperative and the five kilometres got my exercise muscles working again after more than a month of atrophy. Dined out with my family at the food centre opposite Alexandra Hospital, enjoying a sumptuous spread of yam ring, crab, black-pepper pork ribs and fish head bee hoon, then took an after-meal stroll to IKEA. We reached home in time to catch the 10 o'clock show on Channel U. Did some revision for today's driving lesson, practised a bit of Statistics and read Today and Shin Min Daily before hitting the hay at 1am feeling rather accomplished although I did not really make any accomplishments.

I am not trying to suggest that the computer is bad though. I do miss going online, chatting with the usual few, reading entertainment news and forums and perusing blogs. But it feels good to break away from routine once in a while, to enjoy a computer-free night doing things which I would have otherwise neglected.

Anyway, I shall not attempt to recall and regurgitate that MAF entry. To cut a long story short, I did not regret not going for MAF at HCJC (I refuse to tar this page by mentioning its present name) this year. I thought it would only be more interesting and significant to attend MAF ten years down the road to see how awkward teenage boys and girls from yesteryears have grown and become famous celebrities, successful career men and women and responsible parents, not now when all of us are still the awkward teenagers whose lives revolve around pretty the same boring Uni and NS. Last Saturday was, instead, spent with three RV'ians from the neighbouring NJC singing K-Box and exploring the newly-opened Vivocity. I wonder why our paths did not cross earlier.

byponders is no longer in his early twenties, but still spends too much time pondering the imponderables and enjoys an occasional dose of arty goodness. He looks forward to having his own library, Bloomberg machine and walk-in Heineken fridge one day.
